OXFORD, Ohio, July 17. AT the Ohio Junior Olympic Long Course meet tonight in Oxford, the Cincinnati Marlins pushed the boys 13-14 national age group record in the 800-meter free relay under 8:00 for the first time.

The squad of Justin Grender (1:59.34), Nicholas Perera (1:58.07), Jake Foster (2:03.56) and Joshua McDonald (1:57.67) scorched the finale in 7:58.64.

That swim lowered the previous record of 8:00.81 set by Irvine Novaquatics just a year ago. The foursome of Owen Kao (1:56.51), Justin Nguyen (2:01.71), Kevin Tu (2:03.43) and Hunter Hitchens (1:59.16) had originally set that record last summer at the Southern California Age Group Long Course Championships.

Most amazingly, this particular record has now dropped more than six seconds as Mission Viejo held the record before Irvine Nova with an 8:04.91 from 2010.
