SANTA CLARA, California, June 21. CALIFORNIA’s Missy Franklin tracked down the women’s 200-meter freestyle victory at the Arena Grand Prix in Santa Clara as she just missed the top 10 in the world.

Franklin clocked a 1:56.96 for the win, moving to 12th in the world rankings with that performance. Katie Ledecky is still the top American in the world with a sixth-ranked 1:56.27 from the Mesa stop.

Franklin helped pull a pair of lifetime bests out of NBAC’s Cierra Runge (1:58.35) and First Collony’s Simone Manuel (1:59.01) as the two went 2-3 in the event. California’s Elizabeth Pelton took fourth in the event with a 1:59.67, while Canada’s Brittany MacLean also beat 2:00 with a fifth-place 1:59.92.
