SANTA CLARA, California, June 21. IN an incredibly deep men’s 200-meter free finale that featured six Olympians, NBAC French Olympian Yannick Agnel surfaced with the win at the Arena Grand Prix in Santa Clara.

Agnel threw down a 1:46.99 for the win, off his third-ranked season best of 1:45.63 he posted at the French National Championships earlier this year. Meanwhile, the Greatest of All Time Michael Phelps managed to place second with a 1:48.20 in his first 200-meter distance finale since returning to the sport in April. NBAC swept the podium with Conor Dwyer taking third overall in 1:48.36.

Longhorn’s Clay Youngquist (1:48.85) and Gators’ Mitch D’Arrigo (1:48.90) also broke 1:49 to place fourth and fifth, while NBAC’s Matt McLean took sixth in 1:49.45. Dynamo’s Matias Koski (1:49.64), Club Wolverine’s Connor Jaeger (1:49.84) and Seal’s Charlie Houchin (1:50.97) also competed in the championship finale.

Club Wolverine’s Michael Wynalda (1:50.47) and Peter Brumm (1:50.72) battled for the B final win, while Stanford’s Tom Kremer took third in 1:51.64.

NBAC’s Frank Dyer (1:51.73), Club Wolverine’s Michael Klueh (1:51.80), Santa Clara’s Michael Nunan (1:52.14), Badgers’ Ryan Feeley (1:52.70), Stanford’s Thomas Stephens (1:52.76) and Dan Wallace (1:55.25) swam in the consolation heat as well.
