Swimming Documentary “Water Is My Sky” Closing In On Kickstarter Fundraising Goal

I0WA CITY, Iowa, May 5. BRIAN Tremml, the executive producer and director of the documentary “The Water Is My Sky,” has reached the halfway point of his fundraising campaign to raise $50,00 to keep production going on his film.

With about a week remaining in its 30-day Kickstarter campaign, the film has earned 85 percent of its goal, or $42,486. Under Kickstarter guidelines, the entire $50,000 must be raised, or Tremml receives none of the money raised.

So far, 356 people have donated to the film, including seven contributions each between $1,000 and $5,000 and a horde of donations in the past week.

“The past twenty-four hours have been absolutely overwhelming,” Tremml told Swimming World. “We knew that launching this campaign was largely a statement regarding our faith in the swimming community, and they have more than delivered. To be within sight of our goal is incredibly humbling and we are extremely grateful for everyone who has donated thus far!”

“The Water Is My Sky” follows 2012 Olympian Connor Jaeger on his quest to make a second Olympic team. The film will also include a look back at the Olympic journey for Tom Wilkens, who is from the same city in New Jersey as Jaeger and won a bronze medal in the 2000 Olympics. Though Jaeger and Wilkens will be the high-profile subjects of the film, other swimmers will be highlighted to give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the ups and downs of being a competitive swimmer.

Tremml has extensive knowledge of the sport. He swam for the University of Iowa and currently coaches an age-group team there.
