MESA, Arizona, April 25. THOUGH it was only his second race since the London Olympics, Michael Phelps had plenty to gripe about when talking to the media Thursday about his 100 butterfly swim in the final at the Arena Grand Prix.

One of the reasons he believes he placed second behind Ryan Lochte was “the worst turn I’ve ever done in my entire life,” but overall he was happy with the time (52.13) and how he swam.

The bulk of the press conference-style interview was devoted to the friendly rivalry with Ryan Lochte, and what the two bring out in each other when they race in the pool. With both hating to lose, Phelps said “we put it all out there” in every race.
