Greenwich Y’s Meghan Lynch Sets 10-and-Under National Age Group Records in 50/100 Breast

WEBSTER, New York, March 28. THE Greenwich YWCA Dolphins Swim Team’s Meghan Lynch, 10, posted her first National Age Group Record of her young career, a 1:08.07 clocking in the 100-yard Breaststroke in the 2014 United States Swimming Eastern Zone Short Course Swimming Championships held at Webster Aquatic Center in Webster, NY.

The 10-year old Greenwich, Connecticut resident shattered the former mark of 1:09.79 held by Annie Zhu, then of the LaGuardia Aquatic Club of New York, NY. Zhu, now a sophomore at the University of Georgia, where she is a four time All American and recently helped the Lady Bulldogs to their sixth national championship title.

Lynch also took down the 50-yard breast record with a 31.73 split in the 100 breast swim.  That time beat the 31.82 set by Kaylin Burchell back in 2004.

In Day 1 Action at the Zone Meet, Lynch narrowly missed the National Age group records of 31.82 in the 50-Breast and 2:15.00, winning those events at 32.00 and 2:16.66, respectively. Lynch also anchored the CT Zone squad’s 200-Free Relay with 25.62 clocking, winning gold at 1:47.09. In other Day 2 action Lynch won the 100-IM at 1:03.70; the 200-Free at 2:02.50.

Two weeks ago at the Connecticut State Age Group Championships, Lynch claimed 10 gold medals, including 6 individual in the 10-and-under class winning the 10-and-under 50-yard Breaststroke (32.76); 100-Breaststroke (1:10.69); 100-Individual Medley (1:04.54); 200-Individual Medley (2:20.25); 200-Freestyle (2:04.15) and the 500-Freestyle (5:39.74) as well as four relay titles with GYWD.

Lynch still has a full summer long course season with an August 3rd birthday, so there still may be some marks to come.
