Carmel Claims U.S. National Age Group Record in 15-18 200 Free Relay

GREENSBORO, North Carolina, December 12. LAST weekend at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals, the NCAP squad of Janet Hu, Laura Branton, Kylie Jordan and Katie Ledecky took down the U.S. National Age Group record in the 15-18 200-yard free relay.

This morning at the USA Swimming Winter Junior Nationals, the Carmel Swim Club raced right past NCAP’s 1:31.09 as Rachel Hayden (22.95), Amy Bilquist (22.07), Claire Adams (22.71) and Veronica Burchill (22.76) posted a 1:30.49.

Notably, that time also knocked a second off the meet record of 1:31.84 set by SwimMAC last year at this meet. That performance had also stood as the 15-18 NAG up until NCAP took it away last week.

For some additional context, Carmel’s swim was fast enough to have scored in the consolation final of NCAAs last year. That’s just incredibly fast for a foursome of teenage girls.
