CyFair’s Chelsie Miller Scores Third Meet Title in Shenandoah

SHENANDOAH, Texas, August 3. CYPRESS Fairbanks’ Chelsie Miller scored her third title of the meet with a victory in the women’s 200-meter IM tonight at the Speedo Champions Series stop in Shenandoah tonight.

Miller won the women’s 200-meter IM by more than a second with a 2:20.83 for the win. That’s her third individual gold medal of the meet, having also topped the 800 free and 400 IMs earlier this week. Lauren Thompson placed second in 2:22.15, while Alison Bleasdell churned to third in 2:24.28.

Blue Tide’s Jordan Jones cruised to victory in the men’s 200-meter IM with a time of 2:07.07. He’s been much faster with a 2:05.87 at last summer’s U.S. Olympic Trials, but didn’t need that type of speed for the win this evening. Austin Vacek placed second in 2:08.47, while Antoine Marc clinched third in 2:08.64.

First Colony’s Madeline Locus popped a 26.24 to win the women’s 50-meter freestyle event. After a pair of runner-up finishes in the 100 free and 200 free, Locus broke through with her win tonight. Tamiris Nascimento posted a second-place time of 26.56, while Samantha Sutton earned third in 26.79.

Blue Tide’s Alexander Hancock posted a lifetime best 23.33 in the men’s 50-meter free for the win. That bested his 23.53 from the 2012 Richard Quick Invitational hosted by Auburn. That’s his second victory of the week as he also won the 100 fly last night in 55.48. Jacob Gonzales finished second in 23.53, while Nicholas McCarthy wound up third in 23.60.

Streamline’s Colleen Konetzke smashed the field in the women’s 1500-meter freestyle with a winning time of 17:25.24. That’s her second win of the week as she also topped the 400 free in 4:24.20. Sarah Gibson touched in 17:32.55 for second, while Alecia McGillivray checked in third in 17:34.89.

Lost Creek’s Mattias Glenesk obliterated his men’s 1500-meter free lifetime best with a winning time of 16:04.91. That swim crushed his 16:17.96 from the Texas Senior Circuit meet last month. Mitchell Glander earned second in 16:17.26, while Christopher Brady placed third in 16:20.86.
