Streamline’s Luke Shaw Has Strong Night With Pair of Wins

SHENANDOAH, Texas, August 1. THE Speedo Champions Series stop in Shenandoah kept rolling as Streamline’s Luke Shaw had a strong night with a pair of victories.

Streamline’s Luke Shaw crushed his lifetime best in the men’s 200-meter free with a winning time of 1:52.11. Coming into today, Shaw’s previous best had been a 1:54.21 from the 2011 Junior Nationals. Andrew Phillips placed second in 1:52.56, while Nicolai Hansen placed third in 1:52.90.

The Woodlands’ Kelsey Vetalice checked in with lifetime best effort in the women’s 200-meter freestyle as she clocked a 2:02.57. That swim beat her previous top time of 2:03.18 from just a month ago at her squad’s senior invitational competition. Meanwhile, FCST’s Madeline Locus took second in 2:06.09, while Sarah Gibson tied for third with Colleen Konetzke with matching 2:06.38s.

FCST’s Antoine Marc had a huge time drop in the men’s 400-meter IM with a winning time of 4:32.03. That crushed his previous top time of 4:42.90 from the 2012 Austin Grand Prix stop. Jayson Yao (4:36.53) and Thomas Norman (4:38.02) finished second and third.

Cypress Fairbanks’ Chelsie Miller dominated the women’s 400-meter IM with a 4:53.88, while Jaden Bellina posted a second-place time of 4:59.60. Lauren Thompson rounded out the top three in 5:00.38.

In relay competition, Lakeside’s Kara Guenther (2:07.48), Alecia McGillivray (2:09.04), Milan Ho (2:10.10) and Maria Goode (2:10.18) took home the women’s 800-meter free relay in 8:36.80, while Streamline’s Connor Hennessy (1:55.44), David Santos (1:53.88), Daniel Torres (2:00.54) and Luke Shaw (1:58.81) closed out the men’s 800-meter freestyle relay in 7:48.67.
