CRAWFORDSVILLE, Indiana, July 23. DUANE Swisher, the former Western Boone High School swim coach, died on Saturday in a car-bicycle accident in Indiana at the age of 55 according to several media reports including the Journal Review.
Swisher, who was riding his bicycle at the time, was struck by a Jeep at 8:28 a.m. on Saturday in Fountain County, and later died at Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health-Crawfordsville. Swisher was a triathlete and had been preparing for the Sugar Creek Swim Club's Fifth Annual Sprint Triathlon.
"Duane just retired in June and when people asked him why he was retiring he would smile and say, 'Because I can,'" Western Boone High School Principal Rob Ramey said. "Duane wanted to retire so he could enjoy his outdoor sporting activities. He died doing what he loved."
