Indy Will Feature 21 National Teamers Making Special Appearances

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, June 24. THE USA Swimming National Team will be working for its Athlete Partnership Agreement (APA) money this weekend at the 2013 USA Swimming National Championships being held in Indianapolis.

A total of 21 swimmers, including nine gold medalists, will be making autograph appearances throughout the week, with many using the appearances as part of their APA obligations. For a quick refresher, USA Swimming pays pro swimmers more than the standard National Team stipend in exchange for a certain amount of appearances.

Nathan Adrian, Ricky Berens, Tyler Clary, Cullen Jones and Dana Vollmer will be part of the Fan Expo from Tuesday through Friday 4-6 p.m. at the IU Nat. This includes not only autograph sessions, but also photo opps with Deck Pass users.

Haley Anderson, Clark Burckle, Charlie Houchin, Micah Lawrence, Tyler McGill and Chloe Sutton, as well as Ellyn Baumgardner, Bobby Bollier, Megan Romano and Josh Schneider will also be making Fan Expo appearances throughout the week.

Jimmy Feigen will throw out the first pitch at the Indianapolis Indians game Wednesday. During the game, Feigen will be signing autographs and taking pictures with fans between 1:30-2:30 p.m.

In other fan interactions, Caitlin Leverenz will speak at the USA Swimming Foundation Luncheon on Friday from 1-2 p.m. at St. Elmo's Restaurant. Then, the USA Swimming Foundation will host an Athlete Panel featuring Berens, Ben Hesen and Tom Shields. This will feature a Q&A session, along with autograph opportunities following the panel.

Finally, Matt Grevers and Shields will do a Deck Pass exclusive opportunity at the Fan Expo on the finale day of competition from 4-6 p.m. Then, 11-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte will close out the show with his private meet-and-greet with winners of USA Swimming's mobile app Vine contest that was entitled Lights, Camera … Vine! This included swimmers and swim fans from around the world filming Vine videos and submitting them to USA Swimming in hopes of earning the meet-and-greet.

Although, the timing of the Vine contest did run into a bit of a hiccup as Instagram, a huge favorite for the swim fan, introduced its own competing video options. It is only a matter of time before USA Swimming likely kicks off an Instagram video contest as well.
