What Makes A Supportive Swim Parent? Learn From Marcia and Harold Smith

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, April 17. RECENTLY at the men's NCAA Division I swimming and diving championships, Marcia and Harold Smith talked with Swimming World's Jeff Commings about their son Giles, and how they have supported him through the tough times in his swimming career to success as an American record holder and national champion.

Though the two do not swim, Marcia and Harold Smith say they willingly listen to their only child talk to them on the phone about swimming stats and other sport-related terminology. They knew that Giles' decision to transfer from Tennessee to Arizona would be tough, but they say the results have shown the decision was a good one.

If you're experiencing NCAA withdrawal, we have plenty of video interviews with coaches and athletes from the men's championships, as well as the women's championships available on SwimmingWorld.TV!
