Missy Franklin Set For Appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno”; Update: Ryan Lochte Also Set for Leno Interview

PHOENIX, Arizona, August 14. MISSY Franklin returned home to a hero's welcome Monday, greeted by a swarm of adoring fans at the Denver International Airport, but she'll be back on a plane soon headed to Los Angeles for an appearance on “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.”

According to a video posted on Denver TV station WTVR's website, Franklin will be taping her interview with Leno on Wednesday, a day before she starts her senior year at Regis Jesuit High School. Today, Franklin will be registering for classes, and likely, re-acclimating to her home environment after more than a month away for the Olympic Trials and Olympics.

Franklin will be the first Olympic swimmer to appear on late-night television post-Olympics, though gymnast Gabby Douglas has already sat down with Leno this week.

Ryan Lochte will follow Franklin on the “Tonight Show” set the next day, according to a story in Lochte's hometown paper the Daytona Beach News-Journal. Lochte has already stopped by “Good Morning America,” where he expressed a strong desire to be a part of “Dancing With the Stars” cast.

Franklin has continued to stress that she wants to compete in college, and has recruiting trips lined up, but admitted in an article by The Associated Press that the life of a professional swimmer has become more appealing since winning five medals in London.

“I think that my experience here has done two very different things for my decision,” Franklin said. “I think it's made my decision a lot more difficult because I've been able to see the benefits and everything and how people get these sponsorships and what it's like for them and how much fun they're having and seeing those and kind of wanting that, wanting to be a part of it and having it be so hard to turn it down.”
