Virginia High School Swim Coach Noah Rucker Arrested For Alleged Sex With a Student

VIENNA, Virginia, June 18. THIS weekend, Noah Rucker, 39, was arrested for alleged sex with a minor student 10 years ago, according to various media outlets in Virginia including WLJA.

Rucker, who coached at James Madison High School in Virginia, has been arrested for alleged sex with a 17-year-old female student back in 2001 when he was a coach at the school. Fairfax County Police arrested Rucker last week on three charges of “indecent liberties with a minor while in a custodial and/or supervisory position.”

Rucker released the following statement to the media:

“Noah Rucker denies all charges against him and looks forward to clearing his name at trial if not before that time. [The alleged victim] told several people at the time of the initial investigation that she and Mr. Rucker had not been sexually intimate. Since she claims to be physically incapable of lying, that must be true. We also find it hard to believe that [the alleged victim] voluntarily would have dated Mr. Rucker when she was 21 years of age if he actually had molested her when she was fifteen.

“[The alleged victim] clearly is a troubled young woman, but Mr. Rucker is not the cause of her troubles.

“Mr. Rucker and his family and friends have no further comment.”

USA Swimming is aware of the situation, and released the following statement regarding the arrest:

“Upon learning of the arrest of Noah Rucker, coaches from the area immediately reported to USA Swimming's Safe Sport officer, who has initiated the emergency hearing process. USA Swimming and Potomac Valley Swimming adhere to a comprehensive Safe Sport program which includes safeguards in each of six different areas: Polices & Guidelines, Screening & Selection, Training & Education, Monitoring & Supervision, Recognizing, Reporting, & Responding, and Engagement & Feedback”.
