Gator Swim Club Summer Invite: Elizabeth Beisel, Ryan Lochte and Ariana Kukors Win on Opening Night

GAINESVILLE, Florida, June 4. ELIZABETH Beisel, Ryan Lochte and Ariana Kukors all recorded victories at the Gator Swim Club Summer Invitational, which got underway yesterday at the University of Florida's O'Connell Center pool.

Beisel earned a victory in the first event of the night, the women's 200 free (2:01.13). Gator Swim Club's Stephanie Proud finished second (2:03.08) while Kendal Casey of Daytona Beach was third (2:03.45). Charlie Houchin, formerly of FAST but now swimming unattached, won the men's race in 1:48.93, ahead of Lake Forest's Conor Dwyer (1:49.12) and two-time Olympian Peter Vanderkaay (1:51.98).

Daytona Beach's Ryan Lochte picked up two wins in the men's 100 breast (1:03.87) and 100 fly (54.48) during the first night of finals.

Bolles School's Ariana Kukors, the world record holder in the 200 IM, won the 100 fly in 1:01.35. Sarah Bateman of Patriot Aquatics took second in 1:02.59 while ATAC's Alexandria Merritt placed third in 1:03.01.

In other finals, Meghan Haila of Bolles School won the women's 100 breast in 1:12.20, while Jordan Smith of Patriot Aquatics raced to a win in the women's 400 IM in 4:55.41. Gator Swim Club's Sebastien Rousseau won the men's IM in 4:25.62.

Finals continue tonight and tomorrow.
