USA Swimming Hires Second Athlete Protection Employee; Adds New Make a Splash Coordinator

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, November 30. USA Swimming announced today that it has added a second full-time employee to work completely within Athlete Protection. On the heels of Susan Woessner being hired more than a year ago as the USA Swimming Athlete Protection Officer, Liz Hoendervoogt has been added as the new Athlete Protection Corrdinator.

In a statement, USA Swimming explained that Hoendervoogt "will provide administrative and program support for USA Swimming's industry-leading athlete protection program." Hoendervoogt previously worked as a caseworker at the Child Welfare Division's sexual abuse unit in El Paso County. She also worked in Colorado Springs at Safe Passage, a child advocacy center in Colorado.

Meanwhile, USA Swimming also added Harriett Navarre as the new Make a Splash Program Coordinator. She joined USA Swimming from the YMCA of Greater Kansas City, where she was part of the aquatics program for five years.

In other staffing moves, Mary Illich will re-join USA Swimming's member services division as Program Manager in January. Illich worked at USA Swimming for 12 years before temporarily relocating last year. Also, Mariejo Truex, who was serving as a Sport Development Consultant in the Club Development Division, has accepted the role of Program Operations Manager.
