Former UC Davis, Diablo Valley College Swimmer Pierce Hunter Added to USA Swimming Banned List

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, October 24. ACCORDING to the latest update of the USA Swimming Individuals Permanently Suspended or Ineligible List, more commonly known as the USA Swimming Banned List, former UC Davis and Diablo Valley College swimmer Pierce Hunter has been banned from USA Swimming for life.

According to reporting by the Pleasanton Weekly, Hunter was "convicted of a felony in connection with an attack on a young woman in her dorm room last year." The conviction took place in June 2011. Hunter accepted a plea deal in which he plead no contest to a single felony count of "dissuading a witness after threatening the victim following the attack."

Hunter will remain on probation for five years after serving 150 days in the county jail. He also must register as a sex offender.

"Hunter entered the dorm room of the victim," Yolo County Deputy District Attorney Clint Parrish told the judge of the attack that occurred in Jan. 2010. "According to the victim, after a short discussion, Hunter took off most of his clothes and began to force himself on her. During the struggle, Hunter took the victim's pants off of her as well as her underwear. Because of the vast difference in size between Hunter and the victim, he was able to keep her pinned down while he continued to assault her."

Hunter's suspension date is Sept. 22, 2011. Members who are added to the banned list are given 30 days to appeal the decision before they are added to the public list. Hunter's addition occurred on Oct. 24, 2011.

Hunter has since transferred to Diablo Valley College, where he took part in the California Community College Championships in April 2011. He swam on DVC's second-place 800-yard free relay, third-place 400 free relay and fourth-place 200 free relay as well as took fifth in the 100 free (46.07), eighth in the 200 free (1:43.05) and in the 500 free (4:54.31).

Diablo Valley College has not returned a Swimming World phone call to check whether he is still on the roster.
