PALO ALTO, California, August 2. BLUEFISH's Elizabeth Beisel turned in a personal best to win the women's 200 IM at the USA Swimming Long Course Nationals.

Just two days after winning the 400 IM at the FINA World Long Course Championships, Beisel put on the steam in the final 50 meters to capture the women's 200 IM national title with a 2:10.75. That swim pushed her to seventh in the world this year, behind only U.S. world representatives Ariana Kukors (2:09.12) and Caitlin Leverenz (2:10.40).

FAST's Katie Hoff picked up the second-place time of 2:11.26, bettering her season best of 2:11.31 for 10th in the world. Stanford's Maya Dirado completed the top three in 2:11.92 for 14th in the world.

Colorado Stars' Missy Franklin, the breakout star of the FINA World Long Course Championships for the U.S. women, wound up fourth in 2:12.08. She led by a large margin heading into the breaststroke, but fell well back before pulling back into the top-three conversation with her freestyle leg. That swim pushed her to 16th in the world rankings.

Stanford's Julia Smit (2:13.73), Germantown's Teresa Crippen (2:14.00), FAST's Whitney Myers (2:14.13), SwimAtlanta's Jana Mangimelli (2:15.21), Athens Bulldog Morgan Scroggy (2:15.64) and Pleasanton's Allison Brown (2:19.50) also swam in the A final.

Melanie Margalis topped the B final in 2:13.95, while Aggie's Erica Dittmer posted a 2:15.86 to win the C final.
