Morning Swim Show: Kierra Smith, The First Automatic NCAA Championships Qualifier of the Season!

PHOENIX, Arizona, November 22. KIERRA Smith, the first Division I swimmer to automatically qualify for the NCAA championships, joins today’s edition of The Morning Swim Show.

Smith talks about her win in the 200 breast at the Arena Grand Prix in her home pool at the University of Minnesota and why she was extremely nervous before the race. Luckily, head coach Kelly Kremer was able to calm her nerves, and Smith dropped two seconds off her lifetime best. She barely beat training partner Haley Spencer, and Smith talks about a set they did recently that helped her believe her swimming is headed in the right direction. As a native of Canada, Smith was initially focused on attending college in her home country, but was hooked on Minnesota during her recruiting trip.
