Morning Swim Show: What’s Next For UNC-Wilmington Swimming and Diving?

PHOENIX, Arizona, June 10. TWO swimmers from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington's swim team joins today's edition of The Morning Swim Show to talk about how they managed to save the team and what lies ahead for the swimming and diving program.

Sara Smith and Carly Tanner relive the experience of learning that the swimming and diving teams were recommended for removal from the athletic program and how they immediately went into action to drum up national support for the teams. With other colleges and swimming celebrities such as Ryan Lochte offering encouragement, the team managed to convince the school's chancellor to keep the program. Smith and Tanner talk the first team workout after the program was saved, why a mid-major swim team deserved to be saved and how long the team got its reprieve.
