Morning Swim Show: Dave Wharton Stoking Competitive Fire at Nationals

PHOENIX, Arizona, May 8. DAVE Wharton will be one of a handful of Olympians competing at this week's U.S. Masters nationals, and he joins today's edition of The Morning Swim Show before racing at the IU Natatorium.

Wharton talks about the back injury that led to him getting back into the pool after some time away, which led to him competing in Masters nationals in 2010. After working to heal that back injury again in the years that followed, he's excited to be back at nationals to not only race but mingle with swimming friends. He also talks about his life outside the pool, from coaching at The Ohio State University to now working as director of the parks and recreation department in New Albany, Ohio. Wharton takes a trip down memory lane with host Jeff Commings, reliving the experience of breaking a world record in the 400 IM in 1987 and the rivalry he had with Tamas Darnyi.
