Streamlined News: Daley Diving in Australia; Two Colleges Get Verbal Commits

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 9. TWO Two months after winning a bronze medal at the Olympics, Tom Daley is diving at the FINA world junior championships today in Adelaide, Australia. Daley is known for his prowess on the platform, but earlier today, he won a gold medal on the synchronized springboard event with Jack Laugher. Daley and Laugher scored nearly 31 points more than silver medalists Ilia Kuzmin and Maxim Popkov of Russia. This was Laugher's second gold medal of the meet. He won gold on the individual three-meter yesterday. Daley will compete in the individual platform event on Saturday.

We have a couple more college verbal commitments to tell you about today. Ashley Tse, a southern California girl, is staying close to home and attending UCLA next year. Tse is going to contribute in the breaststroke and IM events for the Bruins. Kristina Steins is headed to the University of Louisville next year. She's a backstroker who trained with Olympic finalist Sinead Russell, who is now at the University of Florida. Louisville is known for great swimmers on their men's team, and Steins will be looking to bring the women's team to the same level.
