Streamlined News: Phelps Gets Award; Masters Swimmer on “Survivor”

PHOENIX, Arizona, September 20. YESTERDAY after taping Thursday's Streamlined News, we got word that Michael Phelps was given the Champion of Youth award at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America's annual breakfast in Washington, DC. Phelps received the award from Boys & Girls Club spokesperson Denzel Washington, who's been on hand to present this award to other sports celebrities including LeBron James and Anna Kournikova. Phelps has been growing his learn-to-swim program called “im” at the Boys & Girls Clubs since 2010, growing from six to 28 clubs in two years.

The 25th season of “Survivor” premiered last night on CBS, and we're going to be following the exploits of Masters swimmer Roberta Saint-Amour, who will be on the island in the Philippines with former “Facts of Life” star Lisa Welchel. Saint-Amour competed in Masters in 2008 and 2009, and posted a couple of No. 1 national times in sprint freestyle and backstroke. The show has an ardent fan in Chloe Sutton, who posted on Twitter yesterday that she wants to be part of a future season of the show.
