Streamlined News: Brazilians and Dutch Fast at Jose Finkel Meet; Jason Lezak Pitching at Dodgers Game

PHOENIX, Arizona, August 22. CESAR Cielo is on an upswing again after a less-than-stellar Olympic Games. Last night at the Jose Finkel short course meters meet in Brazil, Cielo swam a 20.59 in the 50 free, just eight hundredths of a second off his lifetime best that he swam in 2010 to win the short course world title.

Thiago Pereira is riding a wave of success from the Olympics, posting a 4:01.9 in the 400 IM, not too far off his national record of 4:00.6 that he swam way back in 2007. Look for Pereira to put up more fast times this weekend, particularly in the 200 IM.

Two Dutch swimmers are also making an appearance in Brazil. Inge Dekker won the women's 50 free in 24.15, and Femke Heemskerk won the 200 free with a 1:55.43.

Jaosn Lezak announced on his Twitter page that he's throwing out the first pitch at tonight's Los Angeles Dodgers game against the San Francisco Giants. Lezak won a silver medal as a prelim swimmer in the 400 free relay for the United States at the London Olympics, and was one of the captains for Team USA. He's the third Olympic swimmer to open a baseball game in the past couple of weeks, joining Conor Dwyer and Rachel Bootsma.
