Streamlined News: Juniors Day Four Recap; Olympians Out and About

PHOENIX, Arizona, August 16. GILLIAN Ryan posted a sweep of the distance events last night at the USA junior nationals with a 4:07.26 in the 400 freestyle, one hundredth of a second faster than she swam at Olympic Trials to place fourth there. Ryan is in tonight's 200 free final, where she'll face off against Allison Brown, who was a distant third in last night's 400 free final.

One of the great battles of the meet took place last night in the men's 400 free. Janardan Burns and Brock Turner exchanged the lead for most of the race, with Burns taking the win in 3:56.54. Turner was just four tenths back for second place.

Allie Szekely had a day off yesterday, but she's back in the water today for the 100 breast final. She's seeded second behind Katharine Ross, who appears to be a better 100 breaststroker, as she was 17th in the 200 breast at this meet.

We've got recaps of each session available on swimmingworld.com.

American swimming Olympians have been quite busy since returning from London. Last night, Dana Vollmer appeared on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” while Missy Franklin was in Los Angeles for “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” And this morning, Matt Grevers rang the opening bell at the NASDAQ stock exchange in New York City.

Tyler Clary, Ryan Lochte and Conor Dwyer showed up at a couple of movie premieres in Los Angeles. Clary signed autographs at the premiere of “Hit and Run,” while Lochte and Dwyer got the opportunity to meet Sylvester Stallone at the “Expendables 2” party. Lochte's been super busy with filming a couple of television guest appearances. Reports indicate that he filmed his cameo for an upcoming episode of “90210” yesterday, and this morning he posed with Joan Rivers on the set of her show “Fashion Police.” We know Lochte has a mind to get into the fashion business, so this is a logical place for him to be. And tonight, Lochte will show up on the couch next to Jay Leno.
