PHOENIX, Arizona, April 25. WE are in for a big show in tonight's men's 50 free final in Rio de Janeiro at the Maria Lenk Trophy meet, if today's prelims are any indication. Bruno Fratus and Cesar Cielo both went 21.7 this morning, with Fratus' 21.70 now the fastest time in the world. Cielo's 21.78 is also his fastest time of the year, keeping him third in the world. Fred Bousquet will be the third q ualifier in tonight's finals after his 21.93 this morning.

Thiago Pereira was pretty fast today in the 200 IM prelims, posting a 1:59.45, and looking to improve on his 1:58.49 from last month's South American Games.

In yesterday's finals, Lotte Friis bookended the session with wins in the 200 free and 1500 free, while Tales Cerdeira potentially got onto the Olympic team with a 2:10.37 in the 200 breast prelims. Daniel Orzechowski also highlighted yesterday's session with a national and South American record in the 50 back with a 24.44.

The Australian men's team wrapped up a crucial training camp today in Canberra that focused mainly on relays. The Aussies are the reigning world champions in the 400 free relay and now are considered the favorite to win Olympic gold, and the medley relay is coming off a second place finish at worlds and are looking to improve on their silver medal from Beijing. A few swimmers were unable to attend the camp, including Brenton Rickard and Cameron McEvoy, who are training in Mexico, and James Magnussen, who is recovering from a chest infection and stayed home in Sydney. The Aussies have these special camps before their major meets every year, and it seems to be paying off. The women started their relay camp yesterday.
