Diann Uustal, Leslie Livingston Set Individual Masters World Records

BOSTON, Massachusetts, December 12. MASTERS swimmers on the East Coast of the United States wrapped up 2011 with five world records at the New England short course meters championships.

Diann Uustal was the star of the meet, setting three Masters world records in the 65-69 age group. Uustal, 65, represents Maine Masters:

100 IM: 1:20.86 (old record: 1:22.46)
50 free: 32.06 (old record: 32.25)
100 back: 1:17.95 (old record: 1:19.08)

Leslie Livingston, a 50-year-old swimming for Patriot Masters, broke the world record in the 50 butterfly for the 50-54 age group with a 30.35. Livingston broke her own world mark of 30.50, which she swam earlier this year.

Maine Masters set a world mark in the 800 free relay for the 280-319 age group. The team of Son Nguyen, Richard Bell, Drew Darling, Zachary Gray swam an 11:04.82, well under the former record of 11:19.67.
