Swim 24Challenge Fights Childhood Drowning

SAN DIEGO, California, July 11. ENDURAGIVE, a non-profit created to channel charitable compassion of endurance athletes, announced the launch of their first event, Swim 24Challenge, which will benefit the San Diego Junior Lifeguard Foundation’s Waterproofing America Initiative. “We knew we wanted to find a cause that was important and create an event around it. An idea with an impactful experience,” said Roger Martin, Chairman and CEO at Enduragive.

Drowning is the second leading cause of death among children. Among minority children and toddlers, it’s the number one cause of accidental death, responsible for more childhood deaths than car accidents, but it is 100% preventable. It costs about $100 to give a child sufficient swimming lessons to prevent drowning. The Swim 24Challenge was designed to raise at least $100 per participant, so that we could ensure that every participant could know that they raised enough to save a child’s life.

Many swimmers of all ages and performance levels have already signed up to participate in the Swim 24Challenge launch. The event is happening at both UCSD Canyonview Aquatics Center and Coggan Family Aquatic Complex in La Jolla, CA from 12 p.m. on August 30 to 12 p.m. on August 31. This 24-hour event will be an unforgettable experience where teams of up to 12 people will swim in relay format to raise money to combat childhood drowning.

“Our mission is aquatic safety education and drowning prevention. Partnering with Swim 24Challenge will allow us to expand our Waterproofing America Initiative,” said Corey McClelland, President of the San Diego Junior Lifeguard Foundation.

Enduragive is a grassroots organization. Each of the founders has a drive to connect a passion for endurance sports with a passion for philanthropy. Out of that passion, Enduragive created a platform to channel the charitable compassion of endurance athletes to impact those in need.
