Industry News: Garrett Weber-Gale’s Nutrition for Performance Video Series Launches on SwimOutlet.com

PHOENIX, Arizona, April 2. GARRETT Weber-Gale, Beijing Games double gold medalist, and SwimOutlet.com, the web's most popular swim shop, have teamed up to launch “Nutrition for Performance.” This video series provides swim fans and competitors tips on eating right, fueling up, and staying hydrated for optimal performance in the pool — and in life.

Since being diagnosed with high blood pressure in 2005, Weber-Gale has made nutrition education one of his passions. The Stevens Point, Wisconsin-native swam for the University of Texas from 2003-2007 and won two gold medals in the relays at the 2008 Olympics. Along with his competitive swimming career, he now runs his own blog called AthleticFoodie, frequently lectures on the topic in public and created a unique video series together with SwimOutlet.com that will educate and entertain both at the same time.

The first video launched today of Series 2, called “Hydrating for Success,” provides tips on staying hydrated and providing fluids to your body. The second video in the series is named “Protein Power” and offers advice on your body's protein in-take and answers questions about how much protein a person really needs. Other videos in the series will launch in April, including selections on staying energized and how to balance a sweet tooth craving with the energy needed to perform.

“Changing my diet had a huge impact on me and my energy levels both in and out of the pool. It made me realize the importance of nutrition, and I want to share this experience with others as much as I can,” said Weber-Gale. “The SwimOutlet.com Nutrition for Performance video series is a perfect example of how we can spread the word of healthy eating together to others.”

“Garrett's video series is fun and educational for kids and parents alike,” said Alexander Sienkiewicz, Chief Marketing Officer, SwimOutlet.com. “We really believe in supporting all aspects of swimming performance — and nutrition is a vital component of staying fit and energized, whether you are a casual swimmer or an Olympic champion.”

The first and second video can be viewed at http://www.swimoutlet.com/nutrition-for-performance. The third and fourth video will be released at a later time. In addition, Garrett Weber-Gale will be answering nutritional questions on this page.
