Video Interview: St. Margarita’s Katie McLaughlin Highlights Epic Night With National Record

RIVERSIDE, California, May 18. ST. Margarita’s Katie McLaughlin tracked down the national high school record in the girls 100-yard fly, and had an epic night to lead her squad to the team title at the CIF Southern Sectional Championships.

Swimming World correspondent Griffin Scott caught up with McLaughlin after the incredible evening.

McLaughlin had an amazing night in Riverside. She won the 200-yard free in 1:44.66 and the 100-yard fly in 51.78 with the fly being the newly-minted national high school mark in the event.

She also had a pair of monster anchor legs for her team. She came home in 22.11 in the 200-yard free relay before closing out the 400-yard free relay with a 48.46 (23.22, 25.24).
