Pennsylvania Breaststroker Michael McBryan Chooses North Carolina

DOYLESTOWN, Pennsylvania, October 9. CENTRAL Bucks’ Michael McBryan is headed to the University of North Carolina as the Pennsylvania-based breaststroker just announced his decision.

McBryan, the top-ranked recruit in the State of Pennsylvania, and the 72nd-ranked recruit in the Class of 2014 by CollegeSwimming.com, is headed to Tar Heel Nation following his senior year at La Salle College High School.

“I chose University of North Carolina because of the team and academic excellence the University is known for,” McBryan posted. “It felt like the right place for me to excel and I can’t wait to get started.”

McBryan is a definitive threat in the breaststroke, having clocked a 2:17.27 in the 200-meter breaststroke at the 2013 Speedo Junior Nationals. He also has a 56.12 in the 100-yard breast from his 2013 state high school meet, as well as a 2:03.32 in the 200-yard breaststroke at the 2012 Speedo Tom Dolan Invitational. He also has a 1:04.75 in the 100-meter breaststroke from 2013 Juniors as well.

In terms of a third event at the NCAA level, McBryan also has a 1:52.14 in the 200-yard IM as well as a 2:13.38 in the 200-meter IM.
