Minnesota’s Top Recruit Danielle Nack Stays Home, She’s a Golden Gopher

MANKATO, Minnesota, October 6. IN a big pick up for the Minnesota Golden Gopher program, Danielle Nack has elected to stay home and be a member of the Minnesota Class of 2014.

Nack, who is ranked 27th in the Class of 2014 by CollegeSwimming.com, brings a serious butterfly resume to the table. She swims for the Mankato Mantas Swim Club, and preps at Mankato West.

Nack blitzed the Minnesota High School State Championships a year ago with a 52.41 in the 100-yard fly, and will take a run at Jasmine Tosky’s national high school record of 51.92 this year in the event. . Nack also has a sub-1:00 time in the 100-meter fly with a 59.37 from the 2013 Speedo Junior Nationals, one of the few teens to be able to boast that type of top end speed this summer.

Nack also has some versatility both in the sprint free game as well as in the longer distance fly event. She clocked a swift 22.82 at high school states last November in the 50-yard free, which will serve to bolster the sprint free squad at Minnesota.

Nack, the top-ranked recruit out of Minnesota, also has a 1:59.24 in the 200-yard fly and a 2:16.60 in the 200-meter fly all in the past year, with some room to grow.

Nack is definitely the top recruit in Minnesota’s class thus far. The Big Ten can see this as a victory as well as Nack elected to remain home after being heavily recruited by Southeastern Conference programs. She’ll join No. 31 Brooke Lorentzen of Mission Viejo as future Golden Gophers in the Class of 2014.
