JSerra Takes Down National H.S. Record in 400 Free Relay

RIVERSIDE, California, May 11. AT the CIF Southern Sectional meet this evening, the JSerra girls high school squad took down the national high school record in the 400-yard free relay.

The JSerra foursome of Kaitlyn Albertoli, Karli Thuen, Rebecca Millard and Katie McLaughlin put together a 3:21.20 to set the national record. The swim was split 50.39, 51.68, 49.97, 49.16 en route to the new standard.

That swim eclipses the smoking 3:21.63 set by Germantown Academy at Easterns earlier this year as Shannon McKernan (49.93), Meagan Dollard (50.35), Madison Visco (51.22) and Rachel Zilinskas (50.13) had owned the previous fastest time by a high school team ever.

The difference maker tonight proved to be McLaughlin with her scorching anchor leg of 49.16.

Hershey still remains in possession of the national public school record of 3;22.85 set by Samantha Surfas, Meaghan Raab, Yurie Nakano and Katelyn Miller in 2011 in Pennsylvania.
