PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, February 26. GERMANTOWN Academy's 400 free relay of sophomore Shannon McKernan, junior Meagan Dollard, sophomore Madison Visco and senior Rachel Zilinskas combined to set a national independent record of 3:21.63 at the Eastern Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 22-23. It erased Germantown's 3:22.34 from 2006. Hershey (Pa.) High School still holds the national public school mark at 3:22.85.

Junior Natalie Dowzicky joined McKernan, Dollard and Zilinskas to claim victory in the 200 free relay with their meet record 1:33.35.
The quartet also excelled in their individual events. Zilinskas captured the 200 IM (2:01.54) and the 500 free (4:41.10). McKernan also claimed two first-place awards with her 50.16 in the 100 free and 1:47.65 in the 200 free. Visco picked up a win in the 100 breast (1:03.93), and Dollard claimed the 50 free with her 23.38.
Germantown dominated the girls competition, taking home the team trophy with 543 points. Episcopal Academy finished second (395), followed by Peddie (326), Phillips Academy (262) and Mercersburg Academy (254).
Episcopal's quartet of freshman Sarah Baturka, senior Rachel Repke, junior Emily Rhodes and senior Tara O'Prey combined for a winning 1:44.47 in the 200 medley relay. Emma Seiberlich led a 1-2-3 sweep of the 100 back for Episcopal (55.72); Rhodes claimed second (57.38) and Baturka finished third (57.67).
Val Yoshimura, a Baldwin sophomore, set a meet record 54.17 in the 100 fly.
The Peddie School boys squad was as dominant as the Germantown girls. Peddie scored 459 points for their championship. Malvern Prep (320) edged out Loyola Blakefield (315) for second, followed by Phillips Academy (253) and The Haverford School (210).
Peddie swept the relay competitions. The team of Patrick Park, Bradley Cline, Joshua Daniel and Michael Nunan combined to tie the meet record 2:59.98 in the 400 free relay. Joseph Lane and Forrest Davis joined Daniel and Nunan in capturing first in the 200 free relay (1:23.84). Cline, David, Park and Lane were victorious in the 200 medley relay (1:31.53).
Nunan set a meet record 1:36.56 in the 200 free and picked up another win in the 500 free (4:18.88). Park scored individual victories In the 100 fly (48.74) and 100 free (45.32). Lane missed out on a meet record by just 4-hundredths with his first-place swim of 49.18 in the 100 back. Cline picked up an individual victory in the 200 IM (1:48.31), as did Davis in the 100 breast (55.53).
Penn Charter's Jamal Willis turned in a 20.87 to capture the 50 free.
