Denver Looks For Sweep Heading Into Final Day Of Summit League Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, February 21. THE University of Denver men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams continued their domination at the Summit League Championships, extending their leads in the team standings and breaking five conference records on Friday. DU won 12 of the 13 events contested Friday night.

With the conclusion of day three at the 2014 Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships, the Denver men’s and women’s teams extended their lead in the team standings. Day three included seven league-record performances.

DU swimmers swept the men’s and women’s 400 IM in league record times. Bridgette McNally won the women’s event in 4:13.46, while Jeremiah Zgliczynski clocked a time of 3:49.09.

Denver’s Sam Corea and Kyle Milberg each won a pair of events on the day, both winning their respective 100 fly and 100 back events. Corea posted a league record and NCAA ‘B’ cut with her first-place 100 back time of 52.75 and set a league record in the 100 fly with a time of 52.77 in the prelims.

South Dakota State’s Connor Florand claimed the men’s one-meter dive title with a league-record score of 326.75, becoming the first Jackrabbit in program history to win a league diving event.

In relay action, the Pioneer women’s team of Johanna Roas, Amanda Sanders, Sam Corea and Drew Matthews won the 400 medley in a league-record time of 3:38.79.

News & Notes

Denver’s Bridgett McNally claimed the women’s 400 IM title with a league record time of 4:13.46, while teammate Jeremiah Zgliczynski won the men’s 400 IM also in league record fashion with a time of 3:49.09. Zgliczynski’s win in the 400 IM, gave him the sweep of the men’s IM events.

DU’s Dylan Bunch recorded an NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 1:37.70 to win the men’s 200 free.

A pair of Pioneer swimmers each won two individual events on the day. Sam Corea won the women’s 100 fly with a time of 52.80 and the 100 back in a league record and NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 52.75. She clocked a league record 52.77 in the 100 fly prelims. Kyle Milberg claimed the men’s title in the 100 fly in 48.02 and the 100 back in 48.02.

DU’s Tanner Krall finished first in the men’s 100 breast and clocked a league record time of 53.91 during the prelims.

South Dakota State’s Connor Florand took first place in the men’s one-meter dive with a league-record score of 326.75, becoming the first Jackrabbit in program history to win a league diving title.

The Pioneer women won the 400 medley relay in a league record time of 3:38.79.
