South Carolina Auctioning Off Meet-Worn Breast Cancer Awareness Swim Caps

COLUMBIA, South Carolina, October 31. RECENTLY, the South Carolina Gamecocks donned original pink swim caps in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month during competition.

Breast Cancer Awareness is currently hitting close to home for most Southeastern Conference teams. With Tennessee First Lady Kim Kredich, wife of Volunteer head coach Matt Kredich, currently battling a bout with breast cancer herself, the entire Southeastern Conference swimming family is working together to help.

USC head coach McGee Moody championed the pink Gamecock swim caps as his team’s part in the fight. At the time of this article, 54 of the swim caps remained to be purchased for $20 with proceeds going to breast cancer research. Additionally, the $20 purchase will also score the buyer an autographed team poster.

“We take great pride in being the best conference in the country and the teams are very close,” Moody told Swimming World. “When Matt Kredich told me that Kim had breast cancer, it really hit home and our team wanted to do something to help. When we swam Tennessee, we had special caps made up in honor of breast cancer awareness month. Our marketing department came up with the idea of auctioning away the autograph caps and team posters, and the proceeds that are raised are going to be donated to the UT Cancer Survivors Treatment Center in the Kredich family’s name.”
