Colorado College Press Release

While it may not have been quite as fun as Friday’s exciting victory over Western State, Saturday’s competition at the Air Force Dual Meet Invitational certainly provided more excellent preparation for Colorado College’s Division III schedule that lies ahead.

The tired Tigers dropped a pair of NCAA inter-divisional dual decisions to meet host AFA (178-49) and Simon Fraser University (165-64), but got several more encouraging results heading into next week’s trip to California.

“Today presented quite a challenge for us, meeting two strong Division I teams,” said head coach Anne Goodman James. “We had a hard time matching yesterday’s times, which is not a surprise this early in our training.”

Highest individual finish of the day came in the 500-yard freestyle, where junior Emma Holmes claimed fourth place with a clocking of 6:03.72.

Sophomore Becca Adams, who helped the 200 free relay team post a fourth-place 1:47.68, also turned in a solid individual effort of 2:50.29 in the 200-yard breaststroke for one of CC’s highlights.
