BOISE, Idaho, October 5. THE Boise State Bronco women's swimming and diving team cruised to its first victory of the season Saturday afternoon, pounding in-state rival Idaho by a score of 217.5-82.5.

Ciera Cortney of Boise State got the meet started with a commanding victory in women's 1-meter diving action. Cortney scored 274.80 points to outdistance teammate Erin Kohlbeck's 254.85. She added a second win in the 3-meter later on with 308.93 points. Boise State continued to roll with another 1-2 finish in the 200 medley relay. Jessica Bottelberghe, Sydney Johansen, Brittany Aoyama and Felicity Cann posted a 1:44.38, just off the pool record of 1:43.63.

Cann and Aoyama both went on to win multiple individual events as well. Cann set a new pool record two events later in the 200 free, touching in 1:50.25 to dip under Amber Boucher's 1:50.28 from 2012. Later in the meet, she added a second win in the 100 free, topping the heat in 51.47.

Aoyama won the 50 free by nearly a second, hitting the wall in 23.60 to easily outpace teammate Katelyn Martin (24.46) and Idaho's Erica Martin (24.60). She later finished second to Cann in the 100 free with a time of 51.78. In the 100 fly, Aoyama destroyed the field, winning by nearly four seconds in 54.95. Idaho's Taylor Strachan finished a distant second in 58.68.

Boise State's Heather Harper left no question about who the top breaststroker of the day was, winning both the 100 (1:05.50) and 200 (2:22.51). Rachel Heaney (200 fly, 2:04.98), Devin Madsen (100 back, 57.74), Blake Balogh (500 free, 5:05.93) and Emri Moore (1,000 free, 10:33.02) also recorded wins for the Broncos.
