Georgia Kicks Off Swim Season With Release of Harlem Shake Making-Of Video

ATHENS, Georgia, August 19. THE “Harlem Shake” viral video craze has pretty much ended, but no one told the Georgia men’s swimming team, whose popular video netted more than 37 million views and an appearance on the “Today” show.

On Sunday evening, the squad released a behind-the-scenes look at what it took to make the 30-second video, which featured several team members dancing in various costumes in the diving well at the Gabrielsen Natatorium. Before we continue, perhaps you need a refresher on the team’s original video:

The new video shows a longer take of the intro to the group dance, in which several swimmers sat in chairs while Conor Sweeney danced on top of a table wearing a “Star Wars” stormtrooper mask. It also shows a couple of takes of the group dance, including Jameson Hill in the chicken suit and Will Freeman writhing in the sleeping bag.

The release of the video comes at a perfect time, as the student-athletes prepare to return to classes — and get ready to welcome high school seniors to campus for recruiting trips.

Below, watch a Morning Swim Show interview from last February with Sweeney, Hill and Freeman.
