IOWA CITY, Iowa, December 2. THE Hawkeye Invitational came to a close tonight with the Michigan Wolverines continuing to dominate, checking in with another set of NCAA A cuts to close out their time in Iowa City.
Michigan's Connor Jaeger raced to an NCAA A cut in the men's 1650 free with a 14:43.73. Teammate Ryan Feeley took second in 14:55.86, while Denver's Dylan Bunch earned third in 15:10.59. Michigan's Adrienne Bicek won the women's 1650 free in 16:13.51, while Iowa's Becka Stoughton took second in 16:22.42. Michigan's Jessica Wolf placed third in 16:36.33.
Denver's Sam Corea topped the women's 200 back in 1:53.76, while Michigan's Ashley Cohagen (1:57.01) and Marni Oldershaw (1:58.10) took second and third. Denver's Kyle Milberg claimed the men's 200 back in 1:43.06. Iowa's Byron Butler (1:43.97) and Michigan's Ryutaro Kamiya (1:44.87) finished second and third.
Northwestern's Taylor Reynolds snared the women's 100 free title in 49.32, while Nebraska's Ariel Weech (49.75) and Hayley Martin (49.90) finished second and third. Michigan's Bruno Ortiz topped the men's 100 free in 43.44, while teammates Miguel Ortiz and Sean Fletcher tied for second with matching 43.82s.
Milwaukee's Emily McClellan swept the breaststroke events this weekend with a 2:10.64 in the women's 200 breast. Michigan's Julia Andracki (2:12.51) and Angie Chokran (2:12.82) placed second and third. Michigan's Richard Funk just missed the NCAA A cut in the men's 200 breast with a 1:54.39, while Notre Dame's Zach Stephens (1:58.26) and Iowa's Roman Trussov (1:58.77) picked up second and third.
Michigan swept the top three in the women's 200 fly as Courtney Beidler (1:59.87), Marni Oldershaw (2:00.41) and Adrienne Bicek (2:01.13) went 1-2-3. Michigan's Dylan Bosch and John Wojciechowski then took the top two spots in the men's 200 fly with a 1:43.61 and 1:44.89. Notre Dame's John Williamson placed third in 1:46.90.
Michigan's Zoe Mattingly, Deirdre Jones, Sharlynn Missiuna and Ali Deloof won the women's 400 free relay in 3:20.99. Michigan's Bruno Ortiz, Sean Fletcher, Zach Turk and Miguel Ortiz ended the evening with a 2:53.78 to win the men's 400 free relay in an NCAA A cut.
In diving, Northwestern's Felicitas Lenz won the women's 10-meter with 309 points, while Michigan's James Ross claimed the men's 10-meter with 326.40 points.
