Drury Women Top Missouri State, Loss for Men

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri, October 26. DRURY took the women's dual 125-116 but dropped the men's meet 154-89 in their annual first of two meetings with crosstown rival Missouri State on Friday night at the Hammons Student Center Pool.

The DU women received victories from Allie Reynolds in the 1000 Free, Tinsley Andrews in the 200 Free, Wai Ting Yu in the 50 and 100 Free, Gretchen Stein in the 200 IM, Rebekah Laupp in the 3-meter and Laurel Bartholomew in the 1-meter diving, Sarah Pullen in the 500 Free and the 400 Free Relay (Tiffany Bell, Leah Reed, Stein and Yu) to capture nine of the 13 events, holding off Missouri State's depth advantage with the nearly double NCAA D-I scholarship allotment to snag the victory and improve to 10-3 in the all-time series with the Bears.

On the men's side, coach Dave Collins' Bears, ranked 23rd nationally in Division I, used their depth to pull away from the eight-time defending NCAA-II champion Panthers, claiming victory in 10 of the 13 events.

Drury's triumphs came from Ryan Arabejo in the 1000 Free, Dwight Baker in the 3-meter diving and the Panthers' 400 Free Relay squad of Igor Kowal, Oleksandr Padalkin, Nick McCarthy and Vladimir Sidorkin.

Drury now leads the men's series 14-11.

The squads will square off in a second meeting of the season on January 17 at the Breech Pool in the annual Mediacom Connections 22-televised “Duel In The Pool.”
