Lance Asti to be Named Final Tennessee’s Assistant Coach

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee, July 17. TENNESSEE will name its final addition to the swimming and diving roster shortly, and that will be LSU's Lance Asti according to a source close to the situation. Asti, who has served as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at LSU, is returning home as a former Volunteer.

Asti spent a few seasons at LSU, helping its sprint group to some of its finest seasons in the history of the program. Jane Trepp became the first Lady Tiger to win an SEC title since 1997 with a 100-yard breaststroke title in 2011. Meanwhile, former Lady Tiger Amanda Kendall also had a breakthrough with Asti on staff before ending last year on a bad note with an injury, before transferring out of LSU.

Before coaching at LSU, Asti served as the sprint coach and recruiting coordinator for Clemson during a four-year stint. As a competitive swimmer, Asti swam at Tennessee, where he earned honorable mention All-America honors as well as Academic All-America records. After earning a degree in Child Development at UT, Asti went on to gain an M.S. in Coaching Education at Ohio University.

The hiring concludes a complete staff makeover by Tennessee head coach Matt Kredich. Kredich, who took over the newly-merged men's and women's programs on Rocky Top, hired Mission Viejo's Tyler Fenwick as the Associate Coach. Ashley Jahn also joined the team as the top women's assistant coach following the resignation of Jennifer Woodruff to focus on her family after becoming a new mom. The new staff also includes Bret Lundgaard from Army as well as long-standing diving coach Dave Parrington. Parrington has been with the Vols for more than two decades after first arriving in Knoxville in 1990.
