ANN ARBOR, Michigan, November 16. UNIVERSITY of Michigan women's swimming head coach Jim Richardson and head diving coach KZ Li announced Tuesday (Nov. 15) the signings of seven prep standouts to National Letters of Intent for the 2012-13 season. The signees include swimmers Ali DeLoof (Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South), Marie Georger (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep), Zoe Mattingly (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville), Sharalynn Missiuna (Oakville, Ontario/Oakville Trafalgar), Marni Oldershaw (Oakville, Ontario/Iroquois Ridge) and Jessica Wolf (Waukesha, Wis./Muskego), and diver Emmy Orrico (Commerce Township, Mich./Mercy).

"This is one of the best recruiting classes we've signed in recent history, and we couldn't be more excited to add these six student-athletes to our team next year," Richardson said. "Not only are they all very talented swimmers, but they're exceptional people who will add much to the great culture we've established here at the University of Michigan."

"Emmy is one of the more talented divers in the state this year," Li said. "She comes from a great club program, and we think she'll provide us with depth on both boards for the next four years. We're excited to have her join the team."

Five of the six swimming recruits are ranked inside the top 150 in CollegeSwimming.com's 2012 Recruiting Rankings, including Oldershaw (No. 55), Georger (No. 92), Wolf (No. 98), Mattingly (No. 118) and DeLoof (No. 130). Additionally, both Georger and Oldershaw are rated as five-star recruits by SwimmingWorldMagazine.com. On the academics side, Georger, Mattingly, and Wolf were named USA Swimming's Scholastic All-America Team, which requires a minimum 3.5 grade-point average and a qualified USA Swimming time standard.

DeLoof is a backstroke/freestyle swimmer from nearby Grosse Pointe, Mich., and swims for Pointe Aquatics. She is ranked as the sixth-best recruit in the state of Michigan this year. As a junior last year, DeLoof was a runner-up at the MHSAA D-II LP state championships in both the 100-yard backstroke (55.40), and 100-yard freestyle (51.40), earning all-state honors. She also finished third as a part of the 200-yard medley relay team. She was an All-American in all three events. Additionally, DeLoof was voted as the team's Most Valuable Swimmer at Grosse Pointe South during her first three years, and was selected as a team captain this season.

Georger is a backstroke/individual medley swimmer from Erie, Pa., and swims for Erie Aquatics Club. She is rated as the sixth-best recruit in Pennsylvania this season. Georger is four-time Pennsylvania Class AA state champion, including three titles in the 100-yard backstroke (54.61), winning the championship in each of her first three years at Mercyhurst. In August, Georger was named to the 2011 National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA) All-America Team in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley, and also qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials in the 200-meter backstroke. She has also been named Swimmer of the Year by the Erie Times three times during her high school career.

A 15-time All-American, Mattingly was runner-up in the 200-meter freestyle at the 2011 Junior National Championships, and a bonus finalist in the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyles.

Oldershaw, who has qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials in nine events, has competed in many national and international competitions, including the 2011 World Junior Championships in Lima, Peru, in August, finishing ninth in the 400-meter IM and 13th in the 200-meter IM. Missiuna's times in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle rank fourth and sixth, respectively, for the 2010-11 long-course season for the Canadian 16-year old girls age group. In addition, Missiuna was named to the 2011 Canadian ID team for the 400-meter freestyle relay, and set Canadian national age group records as part of the 13-14 girls medley relay (set records in the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay in both long course and short course).
