Missouri vs. Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kansas, November 11. IT was a team effort for the Missouri women's swimming and diving team in convincing win over the Kansas Jayhawks by a score of 185-102. The Tigers won 11 of the 16 events to ensure a victory for the Tigers.
Mizzou found success immediately, sweeping the top two spots and taking the top three times in the 400 yard medley relay. The Mizzou team of Dominique Bouchard, Emy DiBenigno, Tasha Truscott, Shara Stafford in 3:42.88. The team of Cassie Cunningham, Courtney Rhodenbaugh, Alexis Spivak, and Lisa Nathanson clocked a time of 3:48.45 for second and the team of Brigette Selbert, Rachel Ripley, Andrea Mark, and Emily Doucette recorded the third highest time of 3:50.24.

In the 100 yard breaststroke, Rachel Ripley took the first place spot with a time of 1:02.80 while Rhodenbaugh placed second with a time of 1:05.83.

In the next event. the 200 yard butterfly, Mizzou swept the top three times again with Dominique Bouchard coming in first with a time of 2:04.62, Spivak in second with a time of 2:08.73, and Leah Cowperthwaithe in third with a time of 2:13.43.

In the 50 yard free, Nathanson recorded a time of 23.73 for first place and Syndney Shaefer placed third with a time of 24.19.

Stafford placed first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 50.49, and the Tiger's success continued with Rachel Ripley placing second in 51.44 and Schaefer taking third with a time of 52.28.

Bouchard had her second win of the evening in the 200 yard backstroke placing first in 1:58.89. In the same event, Emily Harris placed second in 2:04.09 and Brigette Selbert took third with a time of 2:04.66.

The Tigers took the top two times in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The team of Nathanson, Cunninghame, Schaefer, Stafford took first in 1:33.32, while the team of Stephanie Rovig, DiBenigno, Doucette, and Truscott recorded a time of 1:36.21.

The women's diving team had a exceptional day as well. In the 3 meter diving event Sharon Finn earned 278.85 for a first place spot with Lauren Callin taking third with 243.22 points. In the one meter diving event Jordan Morcom earned first place with 306.75 points with Finn placing again, this time in second, with 293.25 points.

The Tigers will next participate in the Mizzou Invite in Columbia, December 1-4, 2011.
