Waters Boil As Conference Foes Collide

BOULDER, Colorado, November 6. THE first weekend of November produced plenty of sizzling times and nail-bitting racing action in the pool. Here's a look at some highlights from the weekend.

The Lady Longhorns hosted rival Texas A&M in Austin on Friday night at the annual Lone Star Showdown, where Texas put on a dominating performance to beat the Aggies by a score of 197 to 103.

Leah Gingrich raced her way to three individual victories in the 1000 free (9:42.38), 500 free (4:45.42) and 200 fly (1:57.75). Teammate Karlee Bispo also posted three wins for the Texas women, touching in times of 1:46.77 in the 200 free, 50.09 in the 100 free and 2:01.47 in the 200 IM.

Breeja Larson was the lone Aggie winner in the swimming competition, posting scorching times of 59.73 in the 100 breast and 2:10.25 in the 200 breast.

Jaele Patrick earned two victories for the Aggies in the diving competition, scoring 327.08 points in the one-meter event and 377.93 points in the three-meter contest.

Meanwhile, the Texas men took on Indiana and Michigan in Ann Arbor, where the Longhorns topped Indiana but fell to Michigan by a single point.

Longhorn Jimmy Feigen smoked the competition in the sprint freestyle events, turning in impressive times of 19.79 in the 50 free and 43.61 in the 100 free.

Michigan's Connor Jaeger swam to two individual wins in the 200 free (1:37.21) and 500 free (4:20.15) while fellow Wolverine Daniel Madwed was triumphant in the 200 fly (1:45.66) and 100 fly (47.42).

Conference rivals Denison and Kenyon faced off on Saturday in Gambier, Ohio , with the Denison women and Kenyon men emerging victorious.

Natalie Lugg (200 breast, 2:23.57), Alyssa Swanson (200 free, 1:52.68), Hilary Callen (1000 free, 10:28.63), Emily Schroeder (200 back, 2:06.46), Morgan Nuess (50 free, 23.96) and Katie Collins (1m and 3m diving) all contributed key wins for the Denison women.

Meanwhile, the Kenyon men got wins from Ian Stewart-Bates (200 free, 1:41.96), David Somers (50 free, 20.78), Andrew Chevalier (400 IM, 4:05.14), Joe Pysnik (200 fly, 1:54.22), Zack Turk (100 free, 45.75) and Colton Spark (200 breast, 2:08.84).
