Duke, Savannah College of Art and Design vs. North Carolina State

RALEIGH, North Carolina, November 5. THE NC State men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept the Savannah College of Art and Design and conference foe Duke today. The Wolfpack men defeated Duke 89-50, and topped SCAD 110-27, while the women beat Duke 84-56, and topped SCAD 119-18.
The NC State men move to 4-1 (2-1 ACC) while the women, who picked up their first ACC win under head coach Braden Holloway, now stand at 4-2 (1-2 ACC).

"This was our first home meet of the year, so the energy was high and the team was hungry," said head coach Braden Holloway. "They've had three road meets to start the season so they were excited to come out and have a meet at home. We had great support from our alumni and families while competing against strong competition in NAIA Savannah and ACC rival Duke."

The Wolfpack women had a strong showing at the meet. Julianna Prim swam a time of 2:00.48 in the 200 butterfly, the third best time in the conference this year. Zina Grogg swam a 55.89 in the 100 butterfly, the fastest mark on the team this year.

"On the women's side, Julianna Prim swam a great butterfly," said Holloway.

Sophomore Jonathan Boffa swam a conference-leading time of 1:37.29 in the 200 freestyle, making him the third-fastest swimmer in that event in NC State history. He followed that up with a time of 44.43 in the 100 freestyle, good for the second best time in the conference and the fourth best all-time mark.

"Those were some great swims from sophomore Jonathan Boffa, it was a very impressive 100 and 200-meter effort from him," Holloway said.

David Williams swam a 1:39.16 in the 200 freestyle, good for the fourth best mark in the ACC. Michael Camper posted a time of 4:02.94 in the 400 individual medley, good for the fourth fastest time in the conference.

In diving action, Hannah Hopkins won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, while Hudson Rains placed first in the 1-meter.

"Hudson Rains and Hannah Hopkins did well in the diving events, which were held at Duke," said Holloway. "It was a great team effort today."
