Wyoming Hires a Pair of Assistant Coaches

LARAMIE, Wyoming, September 1. THE University of Wyoming has bolstered its coaching staff with the hiring of Heidi Gray and Kelly McClanahan as assistant coaches. Gray received a promotion after serving for two years as the school’s graduate assistant. As for McClanahan, she was hired by Wyoming after serving as an assistant for two years at the College of Charleston.

Gray is a graduate of the University of Washington, where she served as a team captain. She’s accompanied by coaching experience at the high school and age-group level in Washington and Montana. McClanahan competed at the collegiate level for Louisville after being a member of the scholastic squad at Baylor High, a Tennessee power.

“Heidi has been a tremendous asset to our program over the past two seasons and we are thrilled she is going to continue her career here,” said Wyoming coach Tom Johnson. “She shows great compassion and dedication to our athletes and has done a tremendous job with the distance swimmers. We look forward to Heidi’s continued contributions to the University of Wyoming.

“Kelly brings to Wyoming a vast amount of experience and knowledge about coaching sprinters. Her college swimming experience and her coaching experiences over the past several years will help Wyoming sprinters reach new heights in the seasons to come.”
