U.S. Women’s Water Polo Ready to Roll in World League Super Final

KIRISHI, Russia, August 17. LESS than a month after capturing the silver medal at the World Championships in Montreal, the United States women are set to begin water polo action in the FINA World League Super Final. Action is scheduled to begin on Thursday and will run through Sunday, and the U.S. will open its slate with a matchup against the Netherlands.

Prior to the World Champs, where the United States fell to Hungary in the gold-medal game, the United States qualified for the World League Super Final by winning the Group A preliminary in East Meadow, New York. Hungary won the Group B prelim and will be joined in Russia by Canada, the bronze medalist at the World Champs. The winning team will receive $50,000 of a prize pool of $185,000.
