Crocker is Victorious at Texas Senior Circuit Event -- June 28, 2005

COLLEGE STATION, Texas, USA, June 28. WHILE the majority of his Longhorn Aquatics teammates were competing at the Santa Clara Invitational, Ian Crocker spent last weekend in the Lonestar State. Still, the world-record holder managed to gain some tuneup work for the World Championships, where he’ll defend his crown in the 100 butterfly.

Competing in the third stop on the Texas Senior Circuit Series, Crocker took top honors in the 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Crocker covered the 100 free in 51.92 and produced a mark of 54.43 in the 100 fly. In Montreal next month, Crocker will look for a repeat world title in his prime event and renew his rivalry with Michael Phelps, the Olympic champ.

A two-time Olympian, Crocker won four medals between 2000 and 2004, walking away from Athens with gold in the 400 medley relay, silver in the 100 fly and bronze in the 400 free relay. At the Sydney Games in 2000, Crocker was a member of the gold-medal winning medley relay.
