Waterfield, Liang Look Sharp at Great Britain’s National Diving Championships

SOUTHAMPTON, England, June 18. GREAT Britain’s Peter Waterfield and China’s Tian Liang put on a diving exhibition Saturday during the ASA Senior National Diving Championships in Southampton, England. Waterfield and Liang each scored impressively, with Waterfield taking the gold medal with a score of 550.68 in the 10-meter platform competition.

Liang scored higher at 561.00, but was ineligible for the title as he was an invited guest to the National Championships. Waterfield and Liang enter Montreal as medal contenders in the tower, and Liang is the reigning Olympic bronze medalist in the platform. Gareth Jones was the silver medalist and Gary Hunt took bronze in Southampton.

Tandi Indergaard was the winner of the women’s three-meter springboard event and was followed in second place by Louise Van Hoof. Both athletes have qualified for the World Champs. Rebecca Galantree was the third-place performer.
